Read More	The Gaffney Ledger (Gaffney, South Carolina) 24 Jan 2000, Mon • Page 8 Margie Clark ~ Margie Phillips Clark, 75, of 803 Lyman St., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Magnolia's of Gaffney. ~ A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Fred E. Clark and daughter of the late Charlie Clayton Phillis and the late Etta Cousins Phillips. ~ She was a secretary and retail department manager. She was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church where she was a preschool Sunday School teacher for 34 years and was also president of the Amazing Grace Singers. ~ Surviving are one son, Dennis Fred Clark of Lafayette, La.; daughter-in-law, Tonia Gayle Clark of Lafayete; two grandsons, Matthew David Clark and John Richard Clark, both of Lafayette; one brother, James C. Phillips of York; four sisters, Elizabeth Barnhill of Greenville, Carolyn Lemmons, Nellie Dowdle, both of Gaffney, and Maggie Kimbrell of Spartanburg. ~ Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Clyde Thomas and the Rev. Danny Phillips. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. ~ Body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. ~ Visitation will be tonight from 7-8 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home. ~ The family is at 803 Lyman St. ~ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church Library Fund, 805 Cherokee Ave, Gaffney, S.C. 29340. ~ Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.
