Anthony West-Owens, the beloved wife of Daniel Thomas Owens and the widow of Clyde Jennings West, Sr., went home to be with her Lord and join her waiting loved ones on Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mrs. Owens was born a daughter of Ernest Calhoun Anthony and Lillie Belle Weeks Anthony on September 6, 1927 in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a 1945 graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a homemaker for the early years of her children's lives. Mrs. Owens was born a daughter of Ernest Calhoun Anthony and Lillie Belle Weeks Anthony on September 6, 1927 in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a 1945 graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a homemaker for the early years of her children's lives. In 1958, she joined the staff of Georgetown Memorial Hospital and in 1990 retired as a Dietician after 32 years of service. She was a faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she has served for many years as the Nursery Teacher, in the Women's Missionary Union, in the Violet Long Sunday School Class, and in the Adult Choir. She was the epitome of a "Southern Lady" with a loving heart that extended beyond her spouse, children, grandchildren, to reach her church and community. Marjorie and Clyde were married in 1945 and celebrated only 12 years together before his untimely passing. From their blessed union was born three children, Sandra K. (Myron, Sr.) Smith, Clyde J. "Jenks" (Marcey) West, Jr., and Marcia A.(Linwood) Goings; four grandchildren, Myron (Angie) Smith, Jr., Jason West, Joshua West, and Michelle Goings; two great- grandchildren, Summer and Savannah. She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Daniel Thomas "DT" Owens; one brother, Curtis Anthony; one sister, Mary Anders; and a large extended family including "Aunt Joyce" Walker, "Aunt Maggie" Anthony, John and Fleetie Cribb, Karen M. West, Drew Sims, Kady Sims, Olivia Sims, Kylee Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband; her son; a grandson, Myron, Jr.; and eight siblings. A Home Going Celebration will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Lakewood Baptist Church with interment following in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Deeter and the Rev. Billy Anderson. The West-Owens family will receive family and friends prior the service from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
