Read More	Marjorie Ruth Younie November 30, 1924 ~ May 21, 2020 Marjorie Ruth Youngkin Younie passed away at Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden at the age of 95 years on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time. A private family service will be Tuesday evening, May 26, 2020, at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Private family burial will be Wednesday in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Public viewing, with no family present, and limited to 10 people at a time practicing social distancing, will be at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marjorie Ruth Youngkin was born on November 30th, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa to Cy and Mabel (Wood) Youngkin. At a young age, her family moved to Hawarden, Iowa where they made their home. She was the middle child of five children born to Cy and Mable. She married Scott Younie at Cherry Point, North Carolina on November 30th, 1943, prior to Scott leaving for WWII. They raised four children, Scott R. “Rocky”, Patricia L. James R., and Richard L. Younie. After Scott returned from the war, they settled on a farm south of Hawarden. Marjorie was a devoted farm wife and mother for 46 years, until they built their new home in Hawarden in 1992. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, sewing clothes for the younger children, taught ceramics classes, made dolls, and made beautiful greeting cards with the stamping technique. She was an avid reader of western novels and enjoyed many westerns on television. She was a very good cook and baker and enjoyed hosting the Youngkin/Younie family meals at many holiday or birthday gatherings. Marjorie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, many different clubs over the years, and was a member of the Associated Church. She and Scott had 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She had many treasured memories that were created with these children. Those left to cherish Marjorie’s life are her children, Scott R. (Mary Ann), their daughter Holly (David) Kasten and their children, Rhone and Ramsey, Patricia (Ken) Koch, James Younie, and Vick and her children Jerred (Joey) and their children Madisen and Reagen, Josh and his children Emma, Rylee, and Peyton. She is survived by her youngest brother, Ellwood (Audrey) Youngkin; many nieces, nephews, and friends of the family. Those preceding her in death are her parents; Scott’s parents Elmer and Cora Younie; her husband, Scott on 1-14-1997; their youngest son, Richard on 2-23-2010; their oldest grandson, Justin on 1-14-1995; and her siblings, Ted (Martha) Youngkin, Louise (Gene) Younie, and Lloyd (Marjorie) Youngkin.
