Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday September 16, 2010 at Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites offered by the United States Army. Read More	Mark Edward "Pete" Higgins December 26, 1923 ~ September 12, 2010 Mark E. "Pete" Higgins died Sunday September 12, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday September 16, 2010 at Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites offered by the United States Army. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 pm with a prayer service held at 7:00 pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service has been entrusted with caring for Pete and his family at this time. Mark was born on December 26, 1923 in North Henderson, Illinois, the son of William Everett and Maggie (Tolley) Higgins. He attended school in Illinois before he entered the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was stationed at the Sioux City airbase as a mechanic. Mark was united in marriage with Colleen Cooley on July 22, 1944 in Sioux City, to this union five children were born. Mark worked for Wilson Trailer Company for many years as a painter, he then worked for a period of time for North American Mfg. in the fiberglass department, he then worked at Sioux Marina as a fiberglass repairperson retiring in 2003. Mark was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities including Deacon and trustee, as well as recording the attendance on a weekly basis. He also was a member of Duane M. Nelson Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing as well as working on the farm and loved the special times he was able to spend with his loving family. Mark will be missed by his family which includes his loving wife Colleen of Sioux City, his four sons: Mark(Anna) of Gillett Grove, Ia., Lonnie (Arlene) of Columbia, Mo., Robin (Debra) of Montrose, Co., and Brian of Sioux City, his daughter Judy Wiatrek of Sioux City, his thirteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
