The funeral services were conducted by Elder Cooper of York at the Baptist church Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock and all business houses were closed during the services. So great was the number attending that many could not gain entrance to the church. Interment was made at Union cemetery. "Uncle Mark," as he was familiarly known to all, was 81 years old, having been born in Montgomery county, Virginia, March 13, 1835. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Bennington November 5, 1857, and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive. He moved with his family to Nebraska in March, 1882, and settled on a farm south of Battle Creek. It was on this fam that the wife died in her sixty-first year. On September 29, 1892, Mr. Sesler was married to Maggie Adams of Baywood, Virginia, the wife who survives him, and to this union one son, Gola D., was born. After the purchase of the harness shop the family moved to Battle Creek. Uncle Mark was a man of generous impulses, never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer, and delighted in all kinds of neighborly offices. He filled the various relations of husband, father, brother and friend and filled them well. For thirty-five years he was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and practiced his religion in his every-day social and business transactions. He was an honored citizen whose departure from this life the entire community sincerely regrets. The surviving children are: Mrs. C. L. Daniel and Gola SESLER of Battle Creek; Mrs. F. P. McBride of Carsonville, Va.; Mrs. Emmet Hale, Tilden Neb., and Edward SESLER of Van Tassel, Wyo. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. McBride.
