Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 11, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Eureka, with Pastor Gary Bergman leading the service. Interment follows at Bertsch Baptist Cemetery, rural Eureka. Organist will be Esther Grosz and the congregation will sing “In the Garden”, “Go Tell it on the Mountain” and “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. Ushers will be Don Heupel and Greg Grenz. Mark Wayne Dohn, son of Elsie (Dollinger) and Adolph Dohn, was born in Eureka on March 12, 1951. He was brought up north of Eureka near the state line and attended grade school in Venturia, ND. He went on to Eureka High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. Mark concluded his formal education at Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, SD where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts. As a college student, Mark worked construction jobs with his uncle, Orvin Bader. Mark married Pauletta Schnell at Aberdeen on November 18, 1972. They moved to the Dohn family farm in 1975 where Mark lived and farmed the rest of his life. Over time, he was also employed at Farm Services in Ashley, ND, The Connection in Eureka, and substitute taught in the Ashley and Eureka schools. He also ran for various county offices and was active in his Church. Mark was passionate about his family, faith, and farming. He enjoyed hunting, auctions and antique tractors. In the fall, he looked forward to playing host to his many hunting friends from around the country. He enjoyed conversation and was usually found chatting on the phone or striking up acquaintances everywhere he went. He had a special soft spot for his dog, Festus, and his many cats. Mark also couldn’t resist cooing over babies. Mark is survived by Pauletta, his wife of 43 years; two sons—Todd Dohn of Wishek, ND and Andrew Dohn of Fargo, ND; one daughter Alicia K. Dohn of Aberdeen; one brother Russel (Sharon) Dohn of Wishek; and his granddaughter, Avery. He was preceded in death by his father on June 18, 1989, his mother on May 17, 2002, and his son, Garret on May 7, 1985. Honorary bearers will be the Eureka High School Class of 1969. Casketbearers will be Spencer Schneider of Wahpeton, ND, Dan Hildebrand of Wilton, ND, Bruce Herr of Wishek, Cory Schnell of Aberdeen, Miles Miller of Venturia, ND, and Dennis Jahraus of Eureka. Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka, is in charge of arrangements.
