Description	:	Marcus was one of seven children born in the Inner Sogn Fjord, Norway to Kari O. and Ole Marcussen Bjordal. Marcus' first name was taken from his father's father; and mid middle name was his father's first name. Marcus' first name was taken from his father's father; and mid middle name was his father's first name. 'Bjordal' is a place, or a farm, in the Inner Sogn Fjord so his last name indicates where he lived, while in Norway. Marcus and his brother Ole left Norway in 1871, for America, first in Dodge County, Minnesota. His mother and five siblings emigrated out of Norway on April 12, 1878, together, to Dodge County, MN. Their father died previous to everyone leaving, and is buried in Norway. Life is not easy for most immigrants, and his mother with 7 of her children, did not have it easy, but the family pulled together to help one another. The sons left the immediate area. Kari and the girls remained in Dodge County for some time. Markus lived just to the age of 32, died of TB (consumption) and all his children preceded him. Markus' wife survived him. Markus' sister, Ingeborg first married Godfred Bay. Godfred and all three children died very young. Ingeborg then remarried, with Severt Erickson, another Norwegian Lutheran immigrant, who she had worked for several years. From that time forward, Ingeborg enjoyed a better quality of life, a home, a family, in a town she liked.
