Her death came peacefully with her family at her side. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 14th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo, chaplain of the Iowa River Hospice officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marla and her family. Born Marla Barker on February 28th, 1943, in Marshalltown, she was the middle of five children born to Fred and Edna (Ecklor) Barker. She received her education in the area of her birth. On February 28th, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gerald Jones in Marshalltown. They have made Marshalltown their home all of their married lives where she was employed at Grandview Heights, Benson Optical, the Drugtown Discount Store and did housecleaning herself for others most recently. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose. Left to celebrate her life are her loving husband of 46 years, Gerald, her three dear children: Kathy (Louis) Lloyd of Nevada, Iowa, Bryan (Lissa) Jones of Kansas City, MO., Keith (Anna) Jones of Minneapolis, MN., grandchildren: Jennie (Larry) Williams of Marshalltown, Tiffany (Shawn) Mason of Chicago, IL., Christopher Jones of Kansas City, and Gabriel Jones of Kansas City, step-grandchildren Britta Johnson of Kansas City, Stacy (Darren) Alexander of Des Moines, Nickie (Rusty) Roustio of Des Moines, Braden Johnson of Kansas City, Preston Mason of Chicago, Parker Mason of Chicago, Ottis Williams of Marshalltown and Owen Williams of Marshalltown, step-great-grandchildren: Hailey Alexander, Riley Alexander and Trinity Alexander all of Des Moines, her brothers Fred Barker of Camanche, Iowa, Norman Barker of Des Moines and sisters Mamie Barker and Deloris Barker both of Marshalltown as well as other family members and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents.
