Description	:	Son of Opal Grace Sheets Marlan attended Audubon Community Schools and Audubon High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 27, 1955. During his tour of duty he served as a mechanic in the 25th Signal Battalion Company. He was honorably discharged on September 18, 1958. On June 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen Ihnken in Atlantic, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. They lived in Wiota, Iowa and later moved back to Atlantic. He worked for Agriland FS hauling hazardous chemicals until he retired in the fall of 2009. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Audubon and Anita. Pete was an avid reader and enjoyed reading Louie Lamore Westerns. He also enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. He loved to gamble on dog races and horse races.
