Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. Rev. Jason Crossen, Rev. Marlene Blanch Michel was born on May 18, 1931, in Hills, Iowa the daughter of Glen and Marguerite (Droll) Michel. Marlene graduated from the 8th grade at St. Joseph's School in Hills, in 1944 and from high school in 1948 from St. Patrick's in Iowa City, Iowa. She then worked for Stutsman Feed Co. in Hills from 1948 - 1953. She was Eldon Stutsman's first bookkeeper. On November 30, 1950, Marlene was united in marriage to Homer E. "Bud" Eden Jr. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hills. Marlene and her husband owned and operated Eden Truck Farm for 17 years. In 1989, she started working as a Library Aide for the city of Lone Tree in the town's library located in the Community Building. It merged with the Lone Tree School Library. Marlene was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree, Friends of the Library, Morning Coffee Rummy Club, and two Royal Rummy Clubs. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 457. She enjoyed making cashew crunch, playing cards, games, going to the Floating Malls and getting together with her family and friends. Marlene is survived by three brothers, Clayton Michel and his wife, Maryann of Riverside, Gerald Michel and his wife, Joan of Hills and Stephen Michel and his wife, Cynthia of Kalona; one sister, Marilyn Knebel of Hills; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Michel of Hills, and one brother-in-law, George White of Coal Valley, Illinois. Many nieces and nephew, cousins and the good friends and family who helped her out in her life by taking her places. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer "Bud" Eden, Jr.; one son, Keith "A.J."
