She was born December 12, 1935 in Hallam. Her parents were Harry and Mathilda (Wohl) Baacke. She was raised and educated in the Crete area, graduating from Crete High School in 1953. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Education from Concordia College in Seward. She married Ronnie Rivers July 22, 1962 in Kramer. They have lived in numerous locations in the U.S. as well as overseas. She taught elementary education in several locations including Seward, Trinity Lutheran School, Winfield, 1981-86 and 1997- to the present. She... She was born December 12, 1935 in Hallam. Her parents were Harry and Mathilda (Wohl) Baacke. She was raised and educated in the Crete area, graduating from Crete High School in 1953. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Education from Concordia College in Seward. She married Ronnie Rivers July 22, 1962 in Kramer. They have lived in numerous locations in the U.S. as well as overseas. She taught elementary education in several locations including Seward, Trinity Lutheran School, Winfield, 1981-86 and 1997- to the present. She also taught in Selma, Alabama, Costa Mesa, California, and New Guinea. Marlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML and the Golden Eagles. She is survived by her husband Ron; son Joel and Lisa Rivers, Affton, Missouri, daughter, Julie Reid, Minnetonka, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Andrew, Joshua, Hannah, Sarah, and Seth. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Winfield, Kans. Interment was on Tues March 24 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Kramer. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran School, 910 Mound St., Winfield, Kansas 67156. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements. *******************************************************
