She attained the age of 70 years, eight months and 2 days. Marlene Yvonne Harms was born at Centerville, SD, on Mar. 8, 1933, the daughter of William J. and Lillian (Swanson) Harms. She was raised on the farm just west of Lennox and attended Lennox Public School, graduating form Lennox High School in 1951. She received as Associate Degree in business and computer from the National College of Business in Sioux Falls. Marlene was Business Manager for the Lennox School District for 43 years, from Jul. 1, 1951 until her retirement on Jun. 30, 1994. She served on the Lennox City Council from June of 1994 until May 2002. Marlene enjoyed crafts, collection musical ornaments and stuffed toys. She loved to cook and enjoyed having family dinners. She was preceded in death by her father, William, on Sep. 10, 1968 and her mother, Lillian, on Apr. 20, 1995. Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Verlyce Nelson and her husband, Roger, of Harrisburg; her brother, Wendell Harms and Sharon Zocco of Tea.
