Marlin Franklin Grotelueschen, the son of Ernst and Hilda Mueller Grotelueschen, was born in Platte county on Oct. 25, 1932. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran church and received his early education at St. John's parochial school. After his graduation from Columbus High school in 1950, he attended St. John's College, Winfield, Kans., and Concordia Teachers College at Seward, where he received his Bachelor of Science in education. While in college, he lettered in baseball all four years and was co-captain of the team during his senior year. Mr. Grotelueschen also attended summer school at the University of Nebraska. The past year he served as principal of Our Savior's Lutheran school in Lake Worth, Fla. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Columbus and was a former Walther League member at St. John's Lutheran church. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Hilda Grotelueschen of Columbus; three brothers, Melvin of Columbus, Elroy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Arden, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Lola) Bargmann of Denver and Mrs. Jerome (Darleen) Mihulka of Columbus; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Mueller of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1948; a brother, Norbert, in 1927, an infant brother; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Grotelueschen. Henry Flesner and Herman Cattau will be in charge of memorials at the church.
