Description	:	Funeral services for Marlin O. Magdanz, age 84, of Norfolk, will be held Wednesday June 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar, Nebraska with Reverend Nathaniel Winkel officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Pierce, Nebraska with military honors provided by VFW Winter-Munson Post 1644, American Legion Post 16 and the United States National Guard Honor Team. Marlin Magdanz son of Gustav W. and Lydia L. (Bermel) Magdanz was born on July 30, 1926 in Pierce, Nebraska. He graduated from Pierce Public Schools with the class of 1944. In June of 1948 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Monson in Craig, Nebraska. One daughter, Teresa, was born to this union. Marlin grew up helping his parents and sister run the cafe in Craig, Nebraska and worked as a utility lineman as well. In 1951 he moved to Norfolk, where he worked for Northwestern Bell, retiring in 1982. He then worked as a cemetery sexton for the Hadar Cemetery, and enjoyed woodworking at his shop called Wood-N-Stuff. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar, Nebraska, and also a member of the VFW Winter-Munson Post 1644, American Legion Post 16, and Telephone Pioneers. He is survived by his daughter, Teri Patterson of Hadar, Nebraska and son-in-law Leonard Patterson of Craig, Nebraska; grandson, Jack Martin of Harlan, Iowa; sister, Opal M. Carlson of Riverton, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Monson; his parents; and three brother-in-laws. Memorials may be made to donors' choice.
