Yunker, son of Frederick and Stena (Toft) Yunker, was born October 4, 1927, in Rock Valley, IA. Growing up, he attended school in Hudson, SD. Following school he enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1951. He served honorably and was discharged in March of 1953. After his military service, Marlowe began farming with his father on the family farm. Over the years he was a member of the Hudson Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Rock Valley VFW, the Moose Lodge in Sioux Falls and the Center for Active Generations. In 2000 Marlowe moved to Sioux Falls where he lived for 10 years before returning to the Hudson area. Marlowe loved to travel and took many trips to Switzerland because his grandfather had come over from there. He loved to meet people and enjoyed dancing. It was said that Marlowe knew so many people that he never met a stranger. Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Beverly Michaud, DePere, WI; brother-in-laws, James Van Drimmelen, Rolling Bay, WA, and Bill Drecktrah, Berlin, WI; nieces, Anne (Jeff) Ross, Kamploops, BC, Sue Drecktrah, Matairie, LA, Lisa (Pat) McNally, Wheaton, IL; Lisa Staude, Cedar Rapids, IA; nephews, Jon Van Drimmelen, Rolling Bay, WA, Bill (Karen) Drecktrah, Appleton, WI, Craig (Sue) Drecktrah, Belvidere, IL, Brian (Barb) Staude, Manitowoc, WI; three great-nieces; 11 great-nephews and several cousins. Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Stena Yunker; sisters, Arlene Van Drimmelen and Leah Drecktrah; nephew, David Staude; and brother-in-law, Irv Michaud.
