Marlyn Raymond Knott was born on July 18, 1934 on a farm near Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Fred and Viola (Chaplin) Knott. After High School, Marlyn went on to honorably serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army from 1955-1957. On October 5, 1960 Marlyn was united in marriage to Gloria Akers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Marlyn worked in various capacities including farming and trucking, which he owned his own truck in 1958. In true truck driver fashion, he loved communicating over the CB and was known by his CB handle “Ole Blue”. He met many friends throughout his truck driving career by communicating over that CB. In 1960 he began driving for IPC until his retirement in 2011. Maryln was a proud member of the Elks Lodge and a Loyal Order of the Moose member, where he spent much of his time playing cards with classmates. He was loved by all that knew him and will be remembered for being a very generous man with a huge heart. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Marlyn Knott is survived by his loving grandchildren: Jaime (Troy) Roelfs, Michael Roelfs, Chelsey Wagoner, Chase Wagoner and Caitlyn Gapp; special friend of the family, Alaine Sprain; a sister, Shirley (Gene) Moats and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria; children, Debra and Rick; his parents and one brother, Lloyd Knott.
