Marlys Ann Heppler was born on August 3, 1934 in Arlington, SD to George and Grace (Franken) Heppler. She received her education in Brookings, SD graduating from Brookings High School in 1953. On October 2, 1955 Marlys was united in marriage with Darwin Harrington in Brookings, SD. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Sandy. The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1970 and she began her career with the American Freight; where she worked collections until her retirement in 1993. Following her retirement she then managed a 64 unit apartment building until 2001. Marlys enjoyed fishing, boating, car racing, cooking; especially meatloaf and potato salad, and watching the soap opera The Young and The Restless. She also enjoyed feeding stray cats, birds, possums and squirrels. Above all she loved her "family life." She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Sandy Howard and her husband, Gary of Sioux Falls; two brothers, Kenneth Heppler and his wife, Carmen of Mitchell, SD, and Glenn Heppler and his wife, Audrey of rural Brookings, SD; sister, Delores Nelson and her husband, Halvor of Roseville, MN; three brothers-in-laws, Rollie Harrington, Hayti, SD, Larry Harrington and his wife, Bev of Sioux Falls, and Lyndon Harrington and his wife, Janet of Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law, Marla Harrington of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin in 2012; parents, George and Grace Heppler; nephew, Matthew Harrington; brother, Merlin Heppler; sister-in-law, Betty Harrington; and her puppy, Princess.
