Description	:	Marlys Ann Frey, 93, of Aplington, Iowa was born the daughter of Peter and Bertha Bruns Luppen on September 9, 1908 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She received her education in Aplington where she graduated from high school. She later attended college in Iowa Falls and taught school for several years after that. On January 24, 1931, she was united in marriage with Edward Frank Frey in the parsonage of the Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. Read More	Marlys Ann Frey, 93, of Aplington, Iowa was born the daughter of Peter and Bertha Bruns Luppen on September 9, 1908 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She received her education in Aplington where she graduated from high school. She later attended college in Iowa Falls and taught school for several years after that. On January 24, 1931, she was united in marriage with Edward Frank Frey in the parsonage of the Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. The couple farmed a few years near Allison, Iowa, then moved to the farm northwest of Aplington. Edward died July 5, 1999. Marlys was a member of the Aplington Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Sunday School Teacher and was an active in the Benevolent Society for many years. On June 10, 1973, Marlys was honored for 30 years of devotion as a teacher in the Aplington Community Bible School. At home, a passion of Marlys' was planting and watching over her flowers on the farm. Uppermost in her priorities was spending time with her grandchildren at the farm at every opportunity and concern for their education. Marlys and Ed enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States. At 7:40 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2002, Marlys died at Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington, where she had been a resident since September, 1998. Marlys is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Frey; an infant daughter, Merna Ruth; a daughter, Dahlia Stockdale on June 27, 1998; and a sister, Esther Leerhoff. She is survived by one son, Robert Frey and his wife, Betty Jane of Aplington; one daughter, Betty Reed and her husband, Harold of Urbandale; a son-in-law, Harold Stockdale, Ames; grandchildren: Clay Stockdale and his wife, Deb and their children, Amanda and Faith; Marla Miller and her husband, Lee; Lisa Robertson and her husband, Mark; Lane Frey and his wife, Kara and their children, Larissa and Andrew; Camila Haugstad and her husband, Steve and their children, Cameron, Hannah and Heidi; Robert Griffith and his wife, Paula; and Carlene Griffith and her daughter, Joni Beth Harbeck. Funeral Services were held March 13 at the Aplington Baptist Church with Pastor Marlin MohrmanOfficiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Aplington with Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
