Description	:	Marlys Hanson, daughter of Clarence "Sandy" and Ruby (Wendt) Hanson was born on March 11, 1938 in Aberdeen, SD. This is where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1956. Throughout her childhood she helped her family operate concession stands at countless events all over Aberdeen. This is where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1956. Throughout her childhood she helped her family operate concession stands at countless events all over Aberdeen. Following her high school graduation Marlys remained in Aberdeen and was employed for several years at Woolworths. Marlys was united in marriage to Duane Johnson on April 20, 1963 in Aberdeen. This is where the couple made their home and raised their children. Over the years Marlys cared for many children for family members and friends. Later in life she went to work for K-Mart where she was employed for many years and touched many lives until her retirement. Marlys loved her job at K-Mart where she was able to spend time with her co-workers and meeting new friends. Her beloved husband died on January 21, 2008 and Marlys continued to make her home in Aberdeen until the time of her death. Marlys will be remembered as a very caring person who cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. Over the years she enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Grateful for having shared Marlys's life are her children, Pam (Rich) Leafgreen, Sioux Falls, SD; Terry (Rachel) Johnson, Brownstown, MI; and Susie (Lance) Cutler, Yukon, OK; grandchildren, Derek, Jordin, Chelsea and Alex Leafgreen, Philip, David, Grace, Emma & Matthew Johnson and Gage and Ella Cutler, brother, Rich Hanson; sister, Gayle (Ray) Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
