Read More	Gaffney Ledger obituary January 17, 2018 Marquis Kent Martin, 86, of 131 Ranson Avenue, Spartanburg, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, S.C. he was first married to the late Helen Shepherd Martin, was the husband of Dorothy McCravy Martin, and son of the late Andrew Martin and Maude White Martin. He served in the U. S. Army in the Korean War, also retired as 1st Class Petty Officer from the U. S. Navy after 20 years of service, and formerly worked for Summerville Public Works after his retirement from service. He was a former Mason at the Goose Creek Lodge #401 and a worthy patron from 1973-1974 and attended St. Luke United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are three stepsons, Daren Martin of Arizona, Dennis Martin and wife, Yvonne of Columbia, S.C. and Deland C. Martin of the home; two stepdaughters, Alfreda Tobias of Tennessee and Amy Schanen and husband, Jon of Spartanburg; two brothers, Manfred Martin and wife, Patti of Gaffney, S.C. and Milton Martin and wife, Ann of Georgia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel M. Sansing and Wilma Sanders and a stepson, Dean Shepherd. Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Heidi Campbell-Robinson and Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Luke United Methodist Church, 105 McKay Avenue, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302 or Spartanburg Mobile Meals, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304. The family will be at the residence, 131 Ranson Avenue, Spartanburg. An online guest register is available at www.blakelyfuneralhome.com.
