She had battled multiple myeloma since May 2005 and received treatment at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark., until recently. Born Sept. 8, 1952, in Garden City, to Nelson and Elvera Schwartz, she grew up in Lane County on a farm near Alamota. After graduating from Dighton High School, she attended Manhattan Area Technical College for secretarial training in 1971. On Aug. 19, 1972, she married Randy Evans. Mrs. Evans lived in the Colorado communities of Montrose, Grand Junction, Gunnison and Delta until the time of her sickness in 2005. Since then, much of her time was spent at Little Rock and at her home in Dighton. She enjoyed singing by being involved in various church and social activities, was a contestant in the 1971 Miss Garden City Pageant, attended Delta First Assembly of God for 33 years and was active in music, Sunday School and women's ministries. Being a stay-at-home mom was a priority for her, which she did after working as a secretary for three years, and she was an integral part in the family businesses. She also enjoyed shopping, world traveling, entertaining in her home, and helping her family and friends. Funeral was at Delta First Assembly of God. A second service was at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Burial was in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Garden City Telegram 10/21/08
