Marshall Martin Tilley was born on July 15, 1896 at Westfield, NC; son of William and Sarah Tilley. During World War 1, Marshall was inducted into the Army at Danbury, NC on October 5, 1917. He was assigned to M Company, 322nd Infantry, 81st Division. Marshall sailed for France on July 31, 1918. He took part in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Marshal accepted a commission as a 2LT on April 28, 1919. He returned to the States on September 26, 1919 and was discharged at Camp Dix, NJ on October 15th. His enlisted service # was 1865140. Tragically, Marshall and his wife Dora were killed on May 2, 1970 when their automobile was struck by a train. May we never forget your service to our nation. Read less
