Mart Waldo Preusker, son of William and Sewerna (Rodekohr) Preusker, was born March 27, 1928, at Battle Creek. He was baptized on April 15, 1928, and confirmed May 17, 1942, at St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended St. John's and Battle Creek High School. In 1948, he joined the National Guard and served for nine years. He was married to Phyllis Kleider on Sept. 24, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They farmed near Battle Creek until 1960, when they moved to rural Tilden and farmed until 1990. They then moved into Tilden, and he worked part time at Chub's Machinery and D&W Machinery until he retired. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden and also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 58 years; six children, Jan and Estel Owens of Maysville, Mo., Dan and Barb Preusker of Battle Creek, Mike Preusker of Chambers, Deb and Todd Duhachek of Ewing, Ann Preusker of Norfolk and Ron Preusker of Tilden; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Elaine Murphy, Joan and Rich Otjen, Donna and Pete Smith, Gerry and Karen Pruesker, all of Battle Creek, and Tim and Marilyn Preusker of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by one infant son, John, his parents and one sister, Grace.
