To the Editor of the Journal: -- Mrs. Martelia Medlin, widow of the late Leroy Medlin, who died jan. 4, 1920, was born Jan. 13, 1853, and was therefore almost 67 years of age. She was born and reared in Union county, and was the daughter of the late C. Chaney. She was married to Mr. Medlin in 1867, and to this union were born thirteen children. To the Editor of the Journal: -- Mrs. Martelia Medlin, widow of the late Leroy Medlin, who died jan. 4, 1920, was born Jan. 13, 1853, and was therefore almost 67 years of age. She was born and reared in Union county, and was the daughter of the late C. Chaney. She was married to Mr. Medlin in 1867, and to this union were born thirteen children. Four died in infancy, leaving two sons and seven daughters to mourn her death. The sons are: Messrs. S. O. and L. W. Medlin, Mesdames T. A. McClellan, C. C. Taylor, G. A. Taylor, D. F. Keziah, J. W. Tadlock, A. E. Little, and G. C. Baucom are the surviving daughters. Mrs. Medlin was a kind and devoted mother, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. The writer has known her all of his life, and has never heard one evil word spoken against her. She was one of the few who possessed no enemies. The deceased professed faith in Christ in the year 1875. She united with the Primitive Baptist church at High Hill, but later moved her membership to the Union Grove church.
