Description	:	Mrs. F. A. Jacques died at her home at 124 North 6th Street (Hiawatha) Friday morning, August 27, at 7:25. She had been ill for a long time, critically ill for the past six weeks. With her husband, she has lived in this community many years. They were on the farm, where by hard work, careful planning they prospered. Jacques died at her home at 124 North 6th Street (Hiawatha) Friday morning, August 27, at 7:25. She had been ill for a long time, critically ill for the past six weeks. With her husband, she has lived in this community many years. They were on the farm, where by hard work, careful planning they prospered. A year ago in September they bot their fine home in Hiawatha, where they could have all the comforts of life. She is survived by her husband, four sons: Roy Jacques lives in Hutchinson; Truman lives on the home farm; Clarence lives in Butte, Mont.; Fred lives in Alexandria, Nebr. Funeral arrangements will not be made until message is received from the son in Montana. Martha Ann Caruthers, daughter of Wm. and Rachel "Fowler" Caruthers, was born April 27, 1852, at Fort Madison, Iowa. Died in Hiawatha, Kansas, Friday, Aug 27, 1926. In 1856 she came with her parents to Kansas, settled four miles southwest of Robinson. She lived there until she was married to Frederick A. Jacques Nov 8, 1868. To this union were born five sons, two daughters. Harve E., the eldest son, died in 1923. Mabel died in 1890 at the age of 9 years. Velma died in 1920. The living children are Roy L., Hutchinson, Kans.; Fred A., Alexandria, Nebr.; Truman A., Willis, Kans.; Clarence E., Butte, Mont. There are 28 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Jacques came to Kansas before Kansas became a state. She has lived thru the strenuous years of the pioneer, has seen a great many changes. She was one of the host of pioneers who have built this great empire of the great west. She has long been interested in all the movements to educate, train her children for the responsibilities of life. For many years she has been a member of the Methodist church. She has gone on to her better home above. May her children rise up to call her blessed. She suffered a stroke in June, another one two weeks ago. Since then she has failed rapidly; on Friday she slept herself peacefully in the better land. She was 74 years, 4 months old. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. L. F. Waring of Kansas City, her former pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Neff sang. Body bearers were Roy L. Jacques; Fred A. Jacques, Truman A. Jacques, Russell Jacques, Charles Olson, Charles Gregg. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
