Description	:	Martha Ann (Classen) Pfeifer was born April 17, 1929 to Margaret and James Classen. Martha died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Martha was the third of eight children, siblings include: James, Bob, Paul, Marion, Marcelline, Joann, and Joe. Martha attended country school just east of Spencer, Nebraska at District 27 and graduated from Spencer (NE.) High School in 1946. Read More	Martha Ann (Classen) Pfeifer was born April 17, 1929 to Margaret and James Classen. Martha died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Martha was the third of eight children, siblings include: James, Bob, Paul, Marion, Marcelline, Joann, and Joe. Martha attended country school just east of Spencer, Nebraska at District 27 and graduated from Spencer (NE.) High School in 1946. Martha married Joseph J "Joe" Pfeifer January 4, 1947, with the wedding dance in Bristow, Nebraska. To this union, five children were born: George in 1947, Marsha in 1948, Frank in 1949, and Jan and Jerry in 1953. Their house on the farmplace burned down February 14, 1947. They lived in the upstairs of Bob Dickey's house while the basement house was being built, with the upstairs of the house being completed in 1961. She resided there until the time of her death. Martha traveled with Joe to many Army reunions, held in many different states and also Europe. The Hells on Wheels Company reunion was held in Spencer in the early 1980s. Martha was a wonderful cook and took pride in preparing delicious meals to her family and friends and provided countless meals at the Senior Citizen Center. She was involved coordinating and preparing/serving the Wild Turkey Days meal and worked effortlessly to find funding to purchase the necessary equipment for the Wild Turkey Days meal. Martha was a member of the Methodist church. She was a member of the Gross Women's Club. She enjoyed entertaining, playing cards, attending any grandchildren and great grandchildren extracurricular activities, bingo, and finding entertainment north of Spencer with her good friend. Martha is survived by: children: George (Carol) Pfeifer of Spencer, Nebraska, Frank (Kathy Wade) Pfeifer of Bristow, Nebraska, Jerry (Gwen) Pfeifer of Spencer, Nebraska and Jan (John) Nolan of Spencer, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.. Martha was preceded in death by: parents, Margaret and James Classen; husband Joseph J. "Joe: Pfeifer; daughter, Marsha Axberg; brothers, James and Robert "Bob" Classen and sister, Marcelene (Classen) Garrett. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Spencer, Nebraska.
