Description	:	Martha Ann Markley, 86, of Pleasant Valley, formerly of Davenport and Ottumwa, passed away on March 6, 2012. Martha Ann was born in Ottumwa on the 4th of July, 1925. She married Frank H. Markley on June 10, 1946, in Ottumwa and together they raised eight children. Frank died on April 14, 2003. Martha Ann was an avid duplicate bridge player, achieving Silver Life Master designation. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League(ACBL). She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. She was known especially for her "from... Read More	Martha Ann Markley, 86, of Pleasant Valley, formerly of Davenport and Ottumwa, passed away on March 6, 2012. Martha Ann was born in Ottumwa on the 4th of July, 1925. She married Frank H. Markley on June 10, 1946, in Ottumwa and together they raised eight children. Frank died on April 14, 2003. Martha Ann was an avid duplicate bridge player, achieving Silver Life Master designation. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League(ACBL). She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. She was known especially for her "from scratch" meals, baked goods and candies. Over the course of her life, she enjoyed many other hobbies, including sewing, knitting, painting, golf, wine-making, fishing, dancing and reading. She also shared herself through her volunteer efforts with Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels and Hospice. Memorials may be made to any of these organizations in Marths's memory. Those left to honor her memory include her eight children, Treesie(Gary)Edmondson of Tuylsa, Okla., Kathy(Ted)Graff of Rapids City, ILL., Mary Jo Markley of San Diego, Calif., Joe(Korin)Markley of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Pat Harper of Davenport, Jeanne(Brian)Shumaker of Newton; Bette(Jim)Jensen of Bettenforf and Rick(Donna)Markley of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and her very special friend, Bill Williams of Davenport. In addition to her husband, Martha Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Florence Fabritz; sisters, Bette Maixner and Mary Teresa Mitchell; and brother, Paul Fabritz. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 pm Saturday for Martha Ann at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church at LeClair, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded; burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Ottumwa. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
