Martha Ann McQuern was born in Clinton county, Indiana, September 26, 1859 and died at Clarinda Iowa, January 27 1925, aged 63 years, 3 months and 24 days. When a small girl she moved with her parents to Vermilion county, Ill, and in 1873 to Clarke county, Iowa. Here her parents passed away. She then made her home with her sister, Mrs S. W. Black for some years, but falling in health physically and mentally, she was taken to the county home at which place she lived until the fall of... Martha Ann McQuern was born in Clinton county, Indiana, September 26, 1859 and died at Clarinda Iowa, January 27 1925, aged 63 years, 3 months and 24 days. When a small girl she moved with her parents to Vermilion county, Ill, and in 1873 to Clarke county, Iowa. Here her parents passed away. She then made her home with her sister, Mrs S. W. Black for some years, but falling in health physically and mentally, she was taken to the county home at which place she lived until the fall of 1924. When it became necessary for her to be taken to the State Hospital in which place she passed away. Her last sickness was but for a few days. She joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Liberty when a young girl and remained faithful until the close of her life. Martha strove to look on the bright side of everything and always helped to share the hardships and heartaches of others she leaves a brother, R. N. McQuern of Osceola, and two sisters, Mrs. S. W. Black of Woodburn, and Mrs E. W. Bergman of Des Moines, and a large number of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the church in Liberty Friday, February 30, 1925, by the Rev. Charles S. Burnett, pastor of the Osceola M. E. church.
