She was born Martha Anne Floyd in Conway, SC on February 17, 1936, the only child of Forrest Kirkland and Lunette Davis Floyd. Educated in the Conway school system, she graduated from Conway High School in 1954 as the class valedictorian as well as president of the student government. Read More	------------------------------------ Murrells Inlet - Martha Lemmon, age 76, died Sunday March 26, 2012 at her residence. She was born Martha Anne Floyd in Conway, SC on February 17, 1936, the only child of Forrest Kirkland and Lunette Davis Floyd. Educated in the Conway school system, she graduated from Conway High School in 1954 as the class valedictorian as well as president of the student government. She attended Limestone College until her marriage to James Lee Jordan, who died in 1964. They had two daughters. She then married Samuel L. Lemmon, Jr., who brought his two children to their new family. After several years in Providence, RI they lived in Atlanta for eighteen years where she was a stay-at-home mom who volunteered at their church and the children's schools, and was involved with their sports and the Girl Scouts. They returned to coastal SC in 1986, and she remained active as a worker in her church, Belin Memorial United Methodist. She was a member of the Chancel Choir, a member of UMW and was the former coordinator of Office Volunteers. She was predeceased by Sam, her husband of 35 years, in 2001. Survivors include 3 daughters, Lynette Jordan Brown and her husband, David of North Augusta; Julia Jordan Windsor and her husband Charles (Duke) of Douglasville, GA; Leigh Lemmon Lewis, a stepdaughter by name only, of Grayson, GA; and stepson Robert Lindsay Lemmon and his wife, Kim of Chattanooga, TN. There are also grandchildren Clay, Jim and Kimberly Windsor, Heather and Preston Lewis and Alyssa and Shelby Lemmon. She also had an extended family of aunts, cousins, and in-laws as well as many friends of Bill W. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. B. Mike Alexander. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the Land Acquisition Fund or the music fund of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church.
