Description	:	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, December 22, 1932; pg. 7 Martha Annie Caley, daughter of Frederick and Margaret Caley, was born May 21, 1849, in Owego, Tiago (sic) county (sic), New York, and passed away Dec. 11, 1932 at the home of her son Bert Garfield at Orafino, Nebr., at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 20 days. With her parents she moved from New York state to Ashtabula, Ohio where she spent her early childhood. In 1870 the family moved to Webster City, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Elijah Garfield. To this union were born six children, five sons and one daughter, Fred Garfield of Bengien, Montana; William Garfield of Oak who preceded her in death in January 1921, Bert Garfield of Orafino, Nebr.; Margaret Sims of Upton, Wyo., Ernest Garfield of Burlington, Iowa; and Archie Garfield of Deaver, Wyo. With her companion and two sons in the year of 1875, she moved onto their homestead in Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska near Oak. In 1909 the faithful companion and father passed away. She was united in marriage to Oliver Baker at Oak, who preceded her in death March 6, 1917. She leaves to mourn her departure five children, eighteen grand children, fourteen great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Joe Lonsdale of Oak, and other distant relatives, and a host of friends. The funeral was conducted at Oak Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. W.B. Zimmerman. Interment was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery (sic).
