Description	:	Martha Majors, 94, a resident of Wenatchee for the past 34 years, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Parkside Care Center in Wenatchee. She was born on July 2, 1906, to Frederick and Rose (Jeske) Bohnet at Ruff, where she was raised and attended a one-room schoolhouse. She was born on July 2, 1906, to Frederick and Rose (Jeske) Bohnet at Ruff, where she was raised and attended a one-room schoolhouse. At the age of 14, Martha worked as a mother's helper on the wheat farms around Odessa. In 1924, she moved with her sister to Wenatchee where she worked for the Battermans and the Simonsons also as a mother's helper, cooking and taking care of the children. She later moved to Seattle where she met and married Robert P. Majors on April 20, 1930. In 1933, they moved to Lake County, CA and later to Oakland and at that time Martha worked in the shipyards as a fire guard in San Francisco. Later they moved to Grass Valley, CA and operated a small farm. In 1947, she moved back to Wenatchee and went to work in the fruit warehouses and then to Odessa and took care of her brother and brother-in-law. In 1966, Martha moved back to Wenatchee and worked for Wenoka. After the death of her husband Robert in 1983, she continued to live in Wenatchee at her own home until a few weeks ago. Martha loved reading, crocheting, working in her yard and baking. Martha was also a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wenatchee. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Jean Simmons of Wenatchee; Donna Rae Depue of Wenatchee and Marianne Thornsberry of East Wenatchee; sister, Julianna Witt of Odessa; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1983, three children, three brothers, six sisters and a grandchild. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum at 1 p.m. with Pastor Timothy Scharr officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Jones & Jones from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. For those friends that wish, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Paul's Lutheran Church School. Jones & Jones Funeral Directors are handling arrangements.
