Schernikan Martha Christena Kloepper was born April 25, 1876, at Clatonia, Nebraska, and passed away from this life August 10, 1943, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 17 days. She grew to womanhood at Clatonia where she attended the Methodist Church. On April 22, 1897, she was united in marriage to John Schernikan. They lived on a farm at Dorchester, Nebraska, then moved to a farm near Ong in 1915. They gave up farming and moved to Edgar. Her Husband preceded her on June 4, 1930. She is survived by one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Henry Wayman of O'Neill, Nebraska; John Kloepper of Farwell, Texas; Walter Kloepper of Brunswick, Nebraska, and Alvin Kloepper of Hemingford, Nebraska, other relatives and a host of friends Mrs. Schernikan was a member of the Methodist church the Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge, all of Edgar, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Friday, August 13, 1943, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. S. W. Longacre in charge. Mrs. E. J. Mort and Ed Cushing sang with Wilma Merrill at the piano. Pallbearers were: E. E. Hedgcock, Tim Kane, E. W. Grummert, E. J. Cushing, F. A. Westering and Barney Kollman. Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery.
