Mrs. Dollie Wilson, 84, for 68 years a resident of this community, passed away at a local hospital early Thursday evening after a long illness. Her death removes another of the pioneer settlers whose life from many years was associated with the growth of Kings county. Mrs. Wilson, the mother of Judge Walter W. Wilson was born at Forest Home, in Amador county, December 14, 1861 and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher (Wesley) Meeker, to this locality in 1877. In 1881 she was married to Richard Wilson, who was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Wilson. The O.L. Wilsons were pioneers of the Kings River District, where he was a large land owner and for many years a farmer and sheep owner. Mrs. Dollie Wilson and her husband established their home in the Kings River district and raised their family there. The passing of her husband some years ago left her a widow and she moved to Hanford which was her place of residence when she passed away. Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for many years, serving as president of the Dorcas Society of that church and in other capacities in connection with the church organization. Members of the immediate family surviving are four sons, Osborne F. Wilson of Fresno; Dick Wilson, of Lemoore; Walter W. Wilson and Fred F. Wilson, of Hanford; and two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Hansen, of Corcoran and Mrs. Maud Clow, of Sacramento; a sister, Mrs. Kate Hicks of Fresno, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Burial Grangeville Cemetery. Hanford Morning Journal Feb 2, 1946 ----------------------------------------------- Note - Also known as Martha. The 1870 census and 1880 census list her as Martha. Marriage and death records list her as Dollie. In her adult life she went by Dollie. Family photos show her as Dollie or Dolly. Provided by member #47098929.
