Description	:	Mattie was the eldest child of J. Whisler Payton and Anna Eliza Bradley. She grew up in a farm family in Keokuk County, where she lived all her life. Her Uncle Cyrus Bradley and Aunt Sarah Bradley Bitner are buried here, too. Another Uncle, Pvt William R. Bradley died in the Civil War. Her widowed Grandmother, Eunice (Hawk) Bradley, always lived with her parents, who moved to Missouri after Martha married. She married Francis Marion Baughman on Sept. 23, 1889. In the 1930 census she lived in her daughter's household: Nora E. Meier, son-in-law Jacob Meier, two grandchildren: Marion J. and Martha J. Meier.
