Thompson, daughter of John and Mary Thompson, was born in Bradley county (sic), Tennessee, October 1, 1858; departed this life April 14, 1947, in Soldiers and Sailors Hospital at Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 14 days. She was 15 years old when her mother passed away at Marysville, Missouri. She moved to Brock, Nebr., in 1873, with her father and brother, who preceded her in death. She was married to J.W. Thompson, daughter of John and Mary Thompson, was born in Bradley county (sic), Tennessee, October 1, 1858; departed this life April 14, 1947, in Soldiers and Sailors Hospital at Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 14 days. She was 15 years old when her mother passed away at Marysville, Missouri. She moved to Brock, Nebr., in 1873, with her father and brother, who preceded her in death. She was married to J.W. Kinnison in 1876. To this union were born two daughters, Effie Diehl and Carrie Herrick. The latter preceded her in death in 1936. She was the widow of a Civil War veteran and one of the early pioneers, who passed away in 1932. She came with her family to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, 60 years ago. She has known the hardships and privations of the early life here, and many sacrifices were made to raise and educate her daughters. She was a dear and loving mother, and a true friend and neighbor. Her life was of the home, never going far from her beloved home. She saw that her children were in Bible school each Lord's Day and she spent many happy hours reading her Bible. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Mrs. Effie E. Diehl; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Klawitter Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. C.M. Foust of Chester in charge, who was assisted by Rev. J.W. Kennedy, local pastor of the Christian Church. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. The following poem written to Grandma Kinnison by Darrell Marshall, who is on Guam, was read at the service: There's a deer old woman Lying in her bed. I'll love her while she's living And I'll love her when she's dead. She always been so swell to me, And I will always know I'm in her heart for good-- Oh, I love her so! Remember me, when just a child? I'd come to visit you-- You gave me peppermint candy; I'll always love you true. I'll never forget the kind things That you would always say-- You've been sweet and kind to me, For you I'll always pray, When time on earth grows short, dear one, Have faith and always know That God will wait for you above, And I'll always love you so. I am young and over the sea, But our love will never part, No matter what happens to you or me You'll always be first in my heart. I'll be home not far from now-- When my Navy life in through, I'll come to see you Grandma dear, And I'll always love you true. CARD OF THANKS.
