Martha Elizabeth Herke, the daughter of August G and Elizabeth (Hoelzer) Herke, was born May 19, 1906 in Palo Alto County, Iowa. Martha married Leon Webb on September 7, 1930, in Hudson, South Dakota. He preceded her in death in 1974. She worked for over 330 years teaching and transcribing braille. Martha had been a resident of Boulder since 1975, coming from Ft. Myers, FL. She was a member of First Christian Church of Boulder and the American Legion Auxiliary in Beamon, Iowa. Mrs. Webb passed away in Louisville, CO., on Monday, June 8, 1998, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; one son, Delmar Webb in 1932; and seven brothers and sisters. Martha is survived by one son, Leon Webb of Boulder, CO.; one grandchild, Steven Webb of Lafayette, Co., and three sisters Clara Jackson of Adel, Iowa, Susie Egeland of Estherville and Carrie Miller of Springfield, Missouri.
