Description	:	Mrs. Martha Wentzell 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin The angel of Death visited the community of Baker's Settlement on February 12 and claimed the life of Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Wentzell, widow of the late Benjamin Wentzell, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 11 days, after a short illness of one day. Deceased was born at Rose Bay, the daughter of George and Sophia Zinck and was the only surviving member of a large family. Read More	Mrs. Martha Wentzell 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin The angel of Death visited the community of Baker's Settlement on February 12 and claimed the life of Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Wentzell, widow of the late Benjamin Wentzell, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 11 days, after a short illness of one day. Deceased was born at Rose Bay, the daughter of George and Sophia Zinck and was the only surviving member of a large family. Her long life was well lived and her gentle acts of kindness will long be remembered by a score of relatives and friends and many are the homes which were cheered by her presence in times of sickness and sorrow. She leaves to mourn their loss four sons, Amos, Ingram, Elvie of Baker's Settlement, Maynard of Rhodes Corner; and two daughters, Jane, Mrs. Cecil Saltsman of Port Williams, and Lydia, Mrs. Colin Beck, with whom she resided until her death; also 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church and attended services as long as her health permitted. The funeral services on February 16 were conducted by Rev. Lukens at the home. Psalm 23 was read and at the church, 2nd. Corinthians, 1st. to 10th. verses. Hymns sung were ""Rock of Ages", "There is No Night in Heaven," and "Asleep in Jesus"- all favourite hymns of the deceased. The pall bearers were Harry Aulenback, Guy Norwood, Sylvanus Veinot, Gordon Bolivar, and the body was laid to rest beside her husband, who predeceased her 20 years ago. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, bearing silent tribute to the esteem in which she was held. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
