Description	:	Funeral services were held on Sunday in the First Baptist Church at Emerson for Mrs. Martha Ella Stephens, whose death occurred April 10. Mrs. Stephens had been a resident of the Emerson Community for nearly 40 years. The services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Person. Music was furnished by Frederick Larson who was accompanied by Mrs. Florence Greenwood. Serving as pall bearers were Dean Darby, John Courtney, Gary Stephens, Larry Stephens, Emmett Stephens, and Kenneth Hunter. Mr. Person read the following life sketch: Martha Ellen, daughter of George and Isabelle Morgan was born February 3, 1876 at Clifton Hill, Missouri. She was married to Miles Stephens August 8, 1893 at Stultz, Missouri. To this union one daughter and four sons were born. The family moved to Mills county 38 years ago and she has been a resident of the Emerson Community ever since. She joined the Baptist Church at the age of 15 and was a faithful and active member until her health failed. She was a kind and faithful mother and a good neighbor to all who knew her. Mrs. Stephens passed away April 10 at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 7 days. She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Maude Darby, Hastings, three sons Claude of Malvern, Floyd of Lorimor, and Herbert of Henderson, six grandchildren, Emmett Stephens of Malvern, Dean Darby of Emerson, Gary Stephens of Henders, Isabelle Courtney of Des Moines, and Della Hunter and Larry Stephens of Lorimor; then great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Will Rutledge of Henderson and Mrs. Sally Shook of Red Oak; three brothers, John Morgan of California, Lonnie Morgan of Moberly, Missouri, and Lafe Morgan of Caire, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends.
