Martha Ellen Hillman was born on November 12, 1927, the daughter of Glenn and Verna (Bateman) Hillman in Dana, Iowa. She graduated from Dana High School in the Class of 1945. Read More	Martha Hillman, 93, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died at home on Friday, February 19, 2021, under the care of her daughters and Iowa River Hospice. Services at the Fellowship Baptist Church. Martha Ellen Hillman was born on November 12, 1927, the daughter of Glenn and Verna (Bateman) Hillman in Dana, Iowa. She graduated from Dana High School in the Class of 1945. After graduation, Martha attended beauty school to obtain her cosmetologist license in Des Moines. After working in Boone, Martha and her family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where she and worked for a number of various salons. She later was the owner and operator of the Modern Day Beauty Shop. Over the years Martha saw a number of her beloved clients at her shop until selling her shop with her retirement in 2010. Martha was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. When she was not at church, she was at home spending time with her family. In her free time, she loved going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events no matter what the sport. She enjoyed taking time to read her bible and spending time with the Lord in reading and prayer. Martha traveled with her friends to various places, cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She helped to care for her parents in their last years. She worked on various sewing and quilting projects which included a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Marcia (Gary) Andrews and Denise Adkins of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren, Teresa Fisher, Andrew Winn, Brandy (Tabby) Hanson, Corrie (Matt) Melberg, Jake (Esmeralda) Adkins, and Ellen (Eric) Walter; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and her special friend Kindi Colston. She was preceded in death by her son Jay Adkins; her parents Glen and Verna Hillman; and her siblings Wayne, Ivan, Max, and Phyllis. She was laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, Iowa. Pallbearers were Jake Adkins, Andrew Winn, Brandy Hanson, Ellen Walter, Corrie Melberg. and Teresa Fisher. Honorary pallbearers were great and great great grandchildren. Along with family and friends groups from Fellowship Baptist Church and Iowa River Hospice attended.
