Mrs. Moncus was born Dec. 3, 1923 in Surry County to Everette and Etta Gentry Wagoner. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Moncus loved crafts and making place mats and towels. Read More	MARTHA EMMA WAGONER MONCUS Dec. 3, 1923 - Jul. 31, 2009 WILKESBORO- Mrs. Martha Emma Wagoner Moncus, age 85, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 in Avante of Wilkes. Mrs. Moncus was born Dec. 3, 1923 in Surry County to Everette and Etta Gentry Wagoner. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Moncus loved crafts and making place mats and towels. She was a member of East Elkin Baptist Church, and was retired from DixieBell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, HOWARD MONCUS; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lee Moncus and wife, Gerry, of State Road; daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Finney and husband, Leo, of Jonesville, and Linda Mitchell and husband, Ricky, of Elkin; brother-in-law, Glenn Burton, of N. Wilkesboro; two sisters, Nancy Wagoner Johnson of Elkin, and Betty Ann Luffman and husband, Albert, of Elkin; and sister-in-law, Mae Moncus, of State Road. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jan Long and husband, Scott, Jeff Finney and wife, Benita, Mark Mitchell and special friend, Angie, Wendy Hodge and husband, Matthew, and Billy Shore; two step grandchildren, Thomas Pardue and wife, Linda, and Annette Decelle and husband, Eric; great-grandchildren, Amber Finney, Bradon Finney, Tara Wooten, Dakota Long, Chase Long, Jessica Wood, and Dillon Wood; step great-grandchildren, Jonna and Celena. Her funeral service will be conducted today, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Rex Walker and the Rev. Wesley Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Sunday, Aug. 2, at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to Avante of Wilkes Activity Center, 1000 College St., Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
