JOHN CALHOUN TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. John Calhoun, 77, died this morning at 1:45 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Steve Nelson, at Division and Lee streets, after an illness of four weeks. She had spent most of her life in this county. Mr. Calhoun preceded her in death 12 yeas ago. Children surviving besides Mrs. Nelson, are Mrs. Pearl Bonser, Burlington, Arthur of Danville, Frank of Lowell and Guy at home. A brother, Segradas Williams, resides at Cushing, Okla. JOHN CALHOUN FUNERAL IS HELD Funeral services for Mrs. John Calhoun were held Sunday at the Crane funeral chapel at 2 o'clock by Mrs. Rachel Weston Wormhoudt. The songs, "Light of Home" and "Going Down the Valley" were sung by Mrs. Wormhoudt and Mrs. Hill accompanied by Judith Peterson. Martha Frances Williams was born in Adair county, Missouri, Sept. 30, 1860 [sic: 1859], and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Nelson in Mt. Pleasant, Ia., March 26, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 26 days. In 1881, she was married to John Calhoun, who passed away in 1923. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Edith Nelson, with whom she made her home, she is survived by 5 other children: Jesse of Aquawka, Ill.; Arthur of Danville, Ia.; Mrs. Pearl Bonser, Burlington; Guy at home; Frank near Lowell; one brother, S.E. Williams of Cushing, Okla. 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was laid to rest in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Six of her grandsons were pallbearers. -"Mt.
