Description	:	Martha Frieda Stellwag was born July 20, 1926 in Gregory County to Hans and Clara (Fotts) Stellwag. She attended Pleasant Site Grade School through the eighth grade at Carlock, SD and then Gregory High School at Gregory. Martha worked at Buche’s Grocery Store through high school and until she was married. On July 21, 1946, Martha was united in marriage to John R. Martin at Carlock, SD. Read More	Martha Frieda Stellwag was born July 20, 1926 in Gregory County to Hans and Clara (Fotts) Stellwag. She attended Pleasant Site Grade School through the eighth grade at Carlock, SD and then Gregory High School at Gregory. Martha worked at Buche’s Grocery Store through high school and until she was married. On July 21, 1946, Martha was united in marriage to John R. Martin at Carlock, SD. To this union, three children were born, Terry, Carol, and Rick. They farmed south of Burke for three years before moving to Chamberlain where they lived on the farm. She worked at Joe’s Super Value Grocery before beginning a 32 year career with St. Joe’s Indian School when she retired in 1990. For several years after her retirement Martha and John moved to Gregory to care for John’s mother. Martha’s passions were bingo and bowling but her true love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha enjoyed helping her daughter Carol at the Chamberlain Country Club and the LWML and church functions.
