Description	:	Martha Gertrude, daughter of Lyman Royce and Julia Ann Lathrop Hatch, was born on April 27, 1868, at Cambridge, Vermont, and passed away on April 3, 1958, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 7 days. When two years of age she came with her family to Iowa. The family settled at Magnolia, Iowa, where she attended and graduated from the public schools. For several years she was a public school teacher before she married Lucius Hobart Raymond, on February 19, 1890. When two years of age she came with her family to Iowa. The family settled at Magnolia, Iowa, where she attended and graduated from the public schools. For several years she was a public school teacher before she married Lucius Hobart Raymond, on February 19, 1890. She and her husband moved to Pisgah, Iowa, in 1902, and continued to reside there throughout life. To this union, three children were born: Edwin L. Raymond, of Moorhead, Iowa; Miles L. Raymond, who passed away in 1918 while in military service; and Ruth Gertrude, now Mrs. Carl Blessing of Pisgah. Mr. Raymond preceded his wife in death on February 28, 1942. Besides the two children, her other surviving relatives are: one cousin and several nieces and nephews. During her long residence in Pisgah, Mrs. Raymond won for herself a wide circle of friends and a respected place in her community. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and served several years as president of the women's organization of the church. She was a Gold Star mother and an honorary life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 5, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Pisgah.
