Read More	Caldwell, Martha J., Apr 22, 1834 - Sep 29, 1905; ss Alexander; Franklin Grove Mrs. Martha Caldwell, wife of Alex Caldwell born in Oberlin, Ohio, April 22, 1834, died September 29, 1905 at her home in Essex, Iowa. She had been in ill health for some time and for a few days had been confined to her bed, but her friends did not consider her dangerously ill. Mr. Caldwell cared for her, himself as strangers annoyed and worried her. She was taken suddenly worse and he left her to call a doctor and some neighbors, but when he returned she had passed away. Mrs. Caldwell was a lady whom every one liked and among her acquaintances was considered a model Christian woman. She had long been a member of the Presbyterian Church and the funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Spargrove at 1 o’clock, Sunday afternoon at the church. He spoke from the words found in March 14th chaperons 9th verse, paying high tribute to her life. She leaves a son, Andy Caldwell of Decatur City and a daughter, Mrs. John Hipsley, whose home is on a farm near here, besides her husband and a host of friends to mourn her departure. She was laid to rest in the Franklin Grove Cemetery. The relatives have our sympathy in this their sorrow. Andy Caldwell and his son-in-law, Mr. Miller came down from Decatur City Saturday to attend Mrs. Caldwell’s funeral. Jesse Caldwell and wife of Council Bluffs were called here Saturday by the death of his brother’s wife.
