Born in Shelby county, Mo., April 1, 1864. Died at her home near Shelbyville April 6, 1909; aged 44 years and 5 days. Death of Mrs. T. J. Gentry. Mrs. Martha J. Gentry, wife of Thos. J. Gentry, died at her home near this city Monday morning, April 6, 1908, aged 44 years and 5 days. She was a daughter of Mrs. Jas. Vanskike. She was a noble christian woman, a woman of holy ambitions and lofty Ideals. Her nature was so tempered by the love of Christ that she was sougnt out by those in sorrow and her sweet disposition and tender sympathy never failed to help and cheer those upon whom it was bestowed. She was a kind, affectionate wife and mother,haer love and friendship were true and lasting. She had a prolonged Illness, beginning over a year ago, and went to Texas and spent a few months for the benefit of her health but did not improve. Last fall her condltion began to grow worse and she faded away in spite of all that skilled physicians and the administrations of willing hands, loving hearts and watchful eyes could do. The funeral services took place from the M. E. Church, South, in this city yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. J. Reed, assisted by Rev. C. P. Blayney. The services were largely attended, friends and neighbors being there to pay their last respects to the noble woman who had lived so long among them. Burial in I. O. O. F. cemetery. The sympathy of the many friends of Mr. Gentry and daughter in this city go out to them in their sorrow. The old home where wife and mother was the chief and satisfying attraction has been made desolate and lonely. Her voice is stilled and her form laid away. May we all at the end of life's journey be as fully prepared for the change as she was.
