Description	:	Obituary Martha Cremer Martha Jane Gamble was born in Tascarawas county, Ohio, January 10, 1828, and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wallace Hess, April 11, 1912 aged 83 years 4 months and 1 day. Our subject was united in marriage to Jeremiah Cremer Oct. 12, 1848, at Canal Dover, Tascarawas. Moved with her husband to Momence, Ill, in 1852, removing to there- from to Wayne county, Ill., eight years later. Read More	Obituary Martha Cremer Martha Jane Gamble was born in Tascarawas county, Ohio, January 10, 1828, and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wallace Hess, April 11, 1912 aged 83 years 4 months and 1 day. Our subject was united in marriage to Jeremiah Cremer Oct. 12, 1848, at Canal Dover, Tascarawas. Moved with her husband to Momence, Ill, in 1852, removing to there- from to Wayne county, Ill., eight years later. Returned to Momence township in 1865, the Cremer family coming to Cass county, Nebr., in the year 1879. Here on the farm two miles west of Elmwood Mrs. Cremer continuously resided until the death of her husband, which occurred in 1898, removing thereafter to California to reside with her daughter Mrs. J. A. Wright. She returned to Nebraska with her granddaughter, Cora Shay, following the untimely death of Mrs. Wright. In 1908 she removed to Momence, Ill., where, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wallace Hess, she passed peacefully to the spirit world. Deceased was the mother of ten children, thirty-four grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. The surviving children are Mrs. Claus Ohm, of Elmwood; Isiah Cremer of Eagle; John Cremer, of Kankakee, Ill.; Mrs. Wallace Hess, of Momence, Ill.; and Grant Cremer, of Grant Park, Ill.; J. D. Skiles, of Overton, Nebr.; Frank Cremer, of West Frankfort, Ill.; The deceased children are Mrs. R. D. Shay, Mrs. J.F. Groff and Mrs. J. A. Wright. Mrs. Cremer was converted when 16 years of age, becoming a member of the United Brethren church. She was always a faithful member of her church, and her religious activities was silenced only by death. The remains were brought to Elmwood cemetery, funeral services being held Sunday afternoon from the M. E. church. The Rev. Mr. Davis delivered the funeral oration, issuing a message of cheer and consolation to the congregation of sorrowing relatives and friends. [Correction, “Mrs.” was omitted, from the obituary. J. D. Skiles is not a surviving child, rather the husband of her surviving daughter Clarissa Anne. This obituary was kindly provided by Diane Parker.
