King Held Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Wm. King from the Dixon Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. H. G. Kohl officiating, assisted by Rev. J. D. Ransom. Burial was made beside her husband in the Nevada cemetery. Mrs. Darlene Upton accompanied by Mrs. H. G. Kohl at the organ sang "Going Home" and "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Organ selections were also played at the beginning and close of the service. Pallbearers were Simpson Toot, Ray Boyd, Clark Stookey, C. B. Dial, Marvin Smith Sr., and Guy French. Caring for the many beautiful floral offerings that banked the casket bier were Mrs. L. R. White and Mrs. Adolph Kleinschmidt. Obituary Martha Jane Jones, daughter of the late John and Jane Jones, was born near Springfield, Ohio, December 25, 1863 and passed away at Nevada, April 20, 1953, at the age of 89 years, three months and 26 days. She had been in poor health for a number of years. She was united in marriage February 26, 1882, to Eli Anderson Shearer and to this union seven children were born: (Alta) Mrs. Albert Gmelin of Fort Plain, N. Y., (Lucretia) Mrs. W. F. Holmes, Collins; (Addie) Mrs. J. M. Carnahan, Reasoner; (Ora) Mrs. Gene Miller, Perry; James B. Shearer, Culver City, Calif.; Charles O. Shearer and Fred A. Shearer of Nevada. She was preceded in death by Mr. Shearer who passed away in July, 1899. She was united in marriage to Wm. King, May 6, 1901, and to this union two children were born, Thos. E. King of Etna, Pa., and Frank (Jerry) King of Nevada. Mr. King passed away April 29, 1940. She came to Iowa with her parents in early childhood and lived in and around the Collins neighborhood until the fall of 1921 when she moved to Nevada. She was a tireless worker in the church, was charter member of the Christian church in Collins, was the first president of the C. W. B. M. when it was organized there and was president of their Ladies Aid for a number of years. Besides her children she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Tillman Regan, Weatherford, Okla.; Mrs. Simon Freeland and Mrs. John Freeland of Rhodes; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and innumerable friends.
