Summers McNulty, on October 11th near Pocomoke City, Maryland. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Central Methodist Church, Blue Grass, conducted by the Rev. H. E. Skeleton, of New Hope, Augusta County, assisted by the Rev. J. G. Long, Jr., of Monterey and Rev. Hipes of Blue Grass. Mrs. McNulty, age 26, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Mauzy, of Monterey. She married T. Summers McNulty, December 23, 1942. She graduated from Blue Grass High School, attended Bridgewater College and graduated from the School of Nursing, University of Virginia, 1943. In her immediate family, she is survived by her husband, now stationed at the Chinoteague Naval Base, Chinoteague, Virginia, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Mauzy; one brother, James Mauzy and a daughter, Judith Lee McNulty, now in the Portsmouth Va. Naval Hospital. Mrs. McNulty was known to her friends and classmates as "Tis". The funeral service was attended by one of the largest crowds of friends and sympathizers ever seen in Highland County. The throng were there to testify by their presence, to the beautiful Christian character of the deceased. Her very presence radiated a friendly spirit. In her profession, she was referred to as "an angel of peace in a world of strife". The hymns used at the service were "Marvelous Grace" and "Hold to God's Unchanging Hand". The quartet was performed by: Messrs E. S. Harman, John Stephenson, Mesdames R. C. Jones and Robert Stewart, with Miss Betty Hansel, pianist. Active pallbearers: Alfred Hull, Ralph Sewcker, Roy Waggoner, Russel Varner, George Smith and Paul Colaw. Honorary pallbearers were: Glen Hammer, Dr. B. T. Swecker, R. W. Hevener, F. W. Hull, Edwin Clem, W. B. Folks, C. W. Neville, Eugene Hammer, Fred Puffenbarger, Joe Sullenberger, Gene Newlen, Charles Newlen, R. M. Gutshall, Carl H. Gutshall, Milton Ralston, Woodrow Gutshall, Marvin Eagle, William Waybright, Luther Hammer, Jr,., Houston Wimer, Leonard Hammer, Kermit Gum, William Snyder, Tom Hull, Dennis Hiner, Ed. Varner, John Ruckman, Warren Rexrode, Lurty Arbogast, George Gum, R. H. Crummett, Byron Judy, I. W. Nicholas, Albert Puffenbarger, Dave Cobb, Meade Swecker, Brooks Beverage and Donnie Sullenberger.
