Description	:	Oelwein Daily Register 21 July 1925 Fayette News (summary) Fayette people were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. A.B. Curran of Waterloo. The Curran family was in an automobile wreck while returning from Yellowstone Park. The accident occurred on July 7th and Mrs. Curran was taken to the hospital at Forsyth, MT. Mr. Curran sent an account of the accident to Mrs. Curran's sister, Mrs. C.S. Tireman of Fayette. It had rained the day before and they reached a section of road that appeared to be dry, but it was yellow gumbo soil that only dries... Read More	Oelwein Daily Register 21 July 1925 Fayette News (summary) Fayette people were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. A.B. Curran of Waterloo. The Curran family was in an automobile wreck while returning from Yellowstone Park. The accident occurred on July 7th and Mrs. Curran was taken to the hospital at Forsyth, MT. Mr. Curran sent an account of the accident to Mrs. Curran's sister, Mrs. C.S. Tireman of Fayette. It had rained the day before and they reached a section of road that appeared to be dry, but it was yellow gumbo soil that only dries to a depth of 1/4" and underneath it's as slippery as soap. They were driving cautiously at 25 mph when suddenly they "turned turtle". He, Lela, and Blanch escaped with just bruises but Martha had broken femur and collar bone. Martha was taken to Methodist Hospital where a surgeon set her bones and it was felt the broken leg would keep her in bed six weeks. As soon as his wife was over the shock of the accident he was going to return to Iowa with the girls by auto and have his wife come later by train. She apparently died unexpectedly while he was driving back to Iowa. The body was shipped to Waterloo. The funeral was held on Monday July 20 with burial in Edgewood. Her father moved from Edgewood to Fayette in 1888 so his 3 daughters could have a college education. Miss Martha received her U.I.U.B.L. degree in 1892 and was a teacher in Clayton County schools for two years and also taught music. She married Rev. Allen B. Buran in 1894; 3 children: Lela Claire, Lois Jeanne, and Blanche Esther. Member of Methodist Church. Their second daughter was Mrs. Lois Ferrington of Postville. Another sister of Mrs. Curran was Mrs. Margaret Spicer of Monmouth IL
