Description	:	The Corning Gazette. 21 October 1915 Mrs. Andrew Young--Martha J. Niles was born in the state of Ohio, February 10, 1850. Died at her home in Nemaha County, Kansas, October 12, 1915, age 65 years, eight months, two days. She moved with her parents from Ohio to Kansas in 1855. She was married to W.A. Young March 28, 1868. Eleven children were born to this union, six of whom precede her to the better land. Died at her home in Nemaha County, Kansas, October 12, 1915, age 65 years, eight months, two days. She moved with her parents from Ohio to Kansas in 1855. She was married to W.A. Young March 28, 1868. Eleven children were born to this union, six of whom precede her to the better land. She leaves her husband; five children, Mrs. Ella McAferty, Mrs. Ada Stone, Ira E., Dola Pearl and Edmond G., eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, with a host of friends to mourn her departure. She became a Christian early in life and joined the United Brethren church and lived a faithful, consistent member of that body until death. She was devoted to her family and would make any sacrifice for their good. Services were conducted in New Eden U.B. church on Thursday at 10:30 o'clock by her pastor Rev. Flickinger, assisted by Rev. D.N. Rose and N. McAferty. The interment was in the America City cemetery. The community is minus the consoling fealty and untiring help of a Christian mother and faithful friend. ------------------------------------------------------------ Martha's parents were Bolivar Niles and Abigail "Rhoda" Prindle. She was an infant in the 1850 Federal census for Richmond, Ashtabula county, Ohio, dated October 3, 1850. Martha and Andrew lost three children in November 1887. There was an epidemic of some sickness. Bertha (14) died November 7, Carrie (2) died November 20, and Cora (9) died November 30. My second great-grandmother Ella (who was 18) was sick with the same illness but survived.
